Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku accepts chef tag in ‘22 re-election bid
Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku has re-ernergised his re-election campaign ahead of next year’s election by using the chef tag, which his opponents have been using to discredit him.
Lenku at the weekend told Kitengela residents he was a “development chef”.
He said his opponents were fond of referring to his projects as hotels but said they were products of good work by those in the kitchen.
“Just because I was the boss at the Kenya Utalii College, my political enemies have nicknamed me a chef.
That tag is not a problem any more. A job is a job. I am no longer bothered by the tag but focused to deliver on my manifesto,” said Lenku.
Lenku said he performed dismally in Kajiado East sub-county in the 2017 elections, expressing optimism that his development record will attract him support in the forthcoming polls.
“The modern Kitengela market is almost complete because my government is geared towards empowering the business community through giving a conducive working environment. I urge you as residents to walk this journey with me,” said Lenku.
“I have strived to unite the people of Kajiado through equal distribution of resources. I have also worked with the national government to address water scarcity in this town.
Kitengela has a significant number of women leaders in my government as a measure to empower women. Today I am delighted to ask for you support in 2022, “he said.
Accompanied by chief administration secretary in the ministry of transport Wavinya Ndeti and a host of members of County Assembly (MCAs), Lenku took time to highlight the number of non- Maasais working in his administration as a way to proof to residents that his government was all inclusive.
Wavinya who addressed the Kamba community in vernacular rallied them to support Lenku.
“As leaders let us drop hard political positions and focus on uniting Kajiado,’’said Lenku
Lenku named Michael Semera who comes from the region as the county executive committee member for the powerful finance docket in a reshuffle
Semera previously served as county minister for Water and Natural Resources.
