Kalonzo accuses political class of using church to launder ill-gotten cash
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has accused politicians of using churches to launder their ill-gotten wealth.
Speaking yesterday at the Royal Christian Church in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado county, Kalonzo urged church leaders not to allow politicians to use the pulpit to dish out corruptly acquired money.
Kalonzo maintained that his presidential bid is anchored on integrity and fight against corruption as well as economic reforms.
“Corruption is beginning to creep into the pulpit and we know very well that the vice breeds poverty.
Why are we spreading gospel of graft by receiving corruptly acquired money?” posed Kalonzo.
He said the country’s economy was capable of sustaining her citizens if managed with high levels of integrity.
Kalonzo, who is part of One Kenya Alliance (OKA) called on Kenyans to support the outfit, saying it was anchored on ideals espoused in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and called on the Orange party and Jubilee to join it.
“Alliance borrows from the spirit of BBI. That is why Kenyans really supported it. I invite Jubilee and even our brothers in ODM to join us,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo (pictured), who was Raila’s running mate in the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections maintained that his eyes are trained on the presidency come 2022.
“I am no longer Caleb. I am now Joshua who was being prepared. I have been with Kibaki for five years and Raila for another 10 years,” said Kalonzo, suggesting that it was now his turn to lead the nation.
