Jubilee Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda and Siaya Senator James Orengo have criticised Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga over his remarks directed at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

Kamanda dismissed Governor Kahiga remarks about Raila campaigning on a platform of historical events, saying the events bind the country together.

"History must be told because it brings Kenyans together as they know where they have come from. I wonder if he is really a Kikuyu because he doesn't want to talk about history," Kamanda said.

Senator Orengo on the other hand told Kahiga that history will be told whether the governor likes it or not, given that the struggle for independence started in Nyeri

Orengo further said that Kenya's history is the foundation of what the country has transformed to be today.

The foundation of Kenya's history is based in Nyeri, and we must tell you about history whether you like it or not, Orengo said.

Speaking at the event, Governor Kahiga asked Raila to stop campaigning on historical event's platform but urged the ODM leader to narrate what he would do for the Mt. Kenya region if elected president come 2022.

Kahiga called upon the ODM leader to focus on his development agenda for the Mt. Kenya region instead of narrating history.

"It is not the right time to talk about history, it is time to talk about where we are going," Kahiga said.

Raila is on a two-day political tour in Nyeri County, hosting a series of Azimio la Umoja events while meeting stakeholders from the region.
