Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang'ata has revealed that some Jubilee party members are planning to take his leadership position following his letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta that leaked to the media.

Kanga'ta who was speaking on Inooro Tv Sunday night said the Jubilee party has vowed to retaliate by stripping off his powers at the Senate.

The Murang'a Senator woes came after details of his Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) letter to President Uhuru emerged. His Jubilee counterparts from the Kieleweke faction have come out in groups and in personal to rebuke him.

"I heard they want to take my Senate leadership position immediately after the BBI referendum. Already they have removed me from the BBI campaigns leadership in Mt.Kenya region," said Kang'ata.

The lawmaker, however, maintained that the position of the BBI in the Mt.Kenya region was as he had highlighted and that his letter was in good faith.

Remorseful for the reactions that his letter attracted, the lawmaker said that he greatly regretted that it leaked to the public. He revealed that he had even received threats that he forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI).

The lawmaker said he did not leak the letter to the media and he believes one of the letter recipients did so. Other intended recipients were Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio, and the National Executive Committee of Jubilee Party.

He had addressed the letter to the President through the Jubilee party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.

The senator said the President and his handshake partner Raila Odinga are surrounded by people who are not telling them the truth about the uptake of the BBI in Mt.kenya region.

As early as Saturday, Kang'ata started receiving sanctions from his BBI colleagues in Mt.Kenya. In a meeting held at Thika Greens Golf Resort in Murang'a county on Saturday, the Senator was replaced with his Kirinyaga counterpart Charles Kibiru to lead the BBI campaigns in the Mt.Kenya region. Kang'ata said he was not invited to the meeting.

Also on Saturday during the burial of Hannah Mudavadi, the mother to Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi at Malulu in Vihiga County, the President cited Kang'ata's letter and said he "don't want people lecturing him on leadership".

Kang'ata was , however, optimistic that the BBI would attract support in Mt.Kenya region if both factions of the Jubilee party sat together and agree on a common agenda of popularising it.
