Kangundo hotel responds as police arrest staff filmed whipping elderly woman
Police in Kangundo, Machakos County have arrested a man who was filmed whipping an elderly woman at a hotel in a video that has since gone viral.
After the video went viral, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua condemned the act which happened at Kangundo Inn hotel.
According to the hotel's management, the woman caused a disturbance and attempted to beat their staff prompting a waiter to "whip her out of the hotel."
"She caused trouble by making noise and she even beat one of our waiters," said the hotel management.
From reports and CCTV footage obtained from the hotel by People Daily, the woman had checked into the premises on Friday 10 am together with another man but the man left shortly after disagreements ensued between the two.
The woman also left the hotel and showed up shortly afterward but did not order any food, instead claimed the premises belongs to her, the hotel staff said.

The hotel claimed that the woman caused more disturbance prompting them to contact the police again, but they failed to show up.

The woman left the premises later in the day but showed up again on Saturday where she continued causing more disturbance, according to the hotel staff.
"The man who had initially checked in with the woman also returned on Saturday morning in the company of another man," said hotel personnel.
The woman is said to have later joined uninvited a table of two men who had ordered food at the Inn, prompting the waiter to beat her up.
