Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua insists audit of the IEBC’s servers is the only way to verify the presidential election results of 2022.

Speaking during the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition town hall meeting held in Ufungamano House on Thursday, April 13, Karua challenged President William Ruto to allow an audit of the servers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and make public the results of the poll, which she claims Azimio candidate Raila Odinga won.

"You say you won why do fear to open the server? The body language tells you they did not win. But the server must be opened. If you won't open it we shall use our sovereignty as the people to ensure the records are laid bare so that we may be able to proceed," Karua said.

Karua, while defending a 'whistleblowers' report alleging that Raila won the presidential poll, said an audit of the server would help solve historical electoral injustices "swept under the carpet" in the last five presidential polls.

"2007 elections were contested. We formed a coalition government, we never audited the actual results. We never got to know where the tank was leaking. In 2013, the court did not give justice to the case as a result again we never got to know what the problem was.

"In 2017, the court gave justice but failed to give proper directions and therefore the repeat elections were held under the same cloud and therefore boycotted by the opposition. The Malawi Court (which relied on the Supreme Court of Kenya precedence on the nullification of the 2017 polls) subsequently did better than the Kenya court. It looked at what the problem was and directed what must be done before the repeat elections and Malawi got an opposition person as president.

"In 2022 the court failed to give justice and the whistle-blower let us know what was in the server. We are therefore saying do not ask us whether our information is accurate the responsibility to keep records is not ours. It belongs to the body we pay called IEBC. Open the servers and the truth will be known once and for all," Karua stated.

She warned that the country could 'explode' if the electoral challenges remain unresolved.

"If we do not open these servers we shall be again sweeping the dust under the carpet and one day this nation will explode. We must have the servers opened this time," Karua cautioned.

Azimio insists that Raila won last year's poll with 8.9 million votes according to revelations made by a whistleblower allegedly working at the poll agency, against Ruto's 5.9 million votes.
