KCPE 2019: Top pupil scored 440 marks

The leading pupil in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) scored 440 marks out of the possible 500, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha said while announcing the results on Monday.
Andy Michael Munyiri from Damacrest School in Thogoto led nationally followed by Flavian Onyango from Chakol Girls, June Jeptoo from Sangalo and Sean Ndugu from Kitengela School who all scored 439 marks.
A total of 1,088,986 candidates sat their KCPE examination in October.
In the 2019 exam, pupils performed better than last year in English, Kiswahili and Sign Language, with female candidates dominating their male counterparts in the languages.
The 2019 KCPE candidates generally performed better than last year's.
