Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has accused senators of playing politics with the revenue sharing bill as they seek to flex their muscles against each other.

Kenneth said the push-and-pull between the senators shows that each of them is advancing their personal interest and not for the public.

He said the debate requires alot of sobriety, as the final verdict will have social, economic and political implications across the country.

Speaking during a local TV show, the former presidential aspirant said he supports equitable sharing of resources and this can best be done based on the population of people.

“Each region should get a fair share of the national revenue for the people to get development projects which suits their needs,” he said.

He added that the main role of thee senators is to oversight the counties and ensure the funds disbursed to them are used prudent for the benefit of the residents.

“One of the reasons we thought devolution was good is because more money will be taken to the grassroots to aid in development and service delivery,” he remarked

He said the senate has been giving a blind eye to the counties where graft has taken roots and public money is being embezzled.

“We are having massive misappropriation of funds in the devolved units and to me this should one of the biggest concern for the senators,” he said.

At the same time Kenneth said it was high time the leaders from Mt Kenya region considered uniting to  chart the way forward ahead of the 2022 General Election.
