Kenya 7s quarterfinal opponents in Challenger Series confirmed

After an impressive performance in the group stage held in Munich, Kenya 7s are set to face hosts Germany in the Challenger Series Cup quarterfinals.

With a flawless record, Shujaa secured victories against Chile, Portugal, and Japan, accumulating nine points.

Kenya 7s possible semis opponents

In another quarterfinal match, Hong Kong China will go head-to-head against Tonga. Hong Kong emerged as the leaders of Pool B with maximum points, while Tonga qualified as the best-performing team among the losers.

Uruguay will take on Georgia in the third quarterfinal. Uruguay dominated Pool A with a perfect nine points, while Georgia advanced as the top team among the best-performing losers.

Meanwhile, Uganda, who finished second in Pool B, are scheduled to clash against Chile in what promises to be an intense encounter.

The women's standings leaders, China, secured their place in the HSBC SVNS promotion and relegation playoff competition in Madrid after an outstanding performance in the third and final round of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024.

With three wins from three matches, China topped Pool A, solidifying their spot in the upcoming playoff competition.

Kenya 7s chase

As the action continues at Henryk Reyman’s Municipal Stadium, three more spots remain up for grabs. The World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger, introduced in February 2020, aims to enhance the development of rugby sevens globally and provide a clear pathway for promotion to the top level of global rugby sevens.

The 2024 edition commenced with a combined men’s and women’s event in Dubai, followed by a second round in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The third and final round features standalone women’s and men’s events in Krakow, Poland, and Munich, Germany, respectively, showcasing the growth and excitement surrounding the short format of the game since its introduction to the Olympic stage in 2016.
