Kenya Pipeline gives Sh14 million worth scholarships to PWDs
A section of people living with disabilities have a reason to smile after receiving scholarships from the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC)
Speaking while presenting Sh 14 million cheque to the National Council for Persons Living with Disability, Managing Director KPC Dr Macharia Irungu said the company will be working together with NCPWD in their role for corporate philanthropy.
"We are more than willing to work together. I have traversed that we are going to collaborate to ensure we have supported our kids," said Macharia Irungu.
Irungu said KPC has a robust Corporate Social Investment (CSI) plan, spearheaded by its Foundation.
Under the Foundation, empowerment of persons with disability (Inuka Program) is one of
the key focus areas among other social intervention initiatives.
Chairperson of KPC board Rita Okuthe said the company has for the
last five years contributed towards mainstreaming disability issues in all aspects of the society.
"We are more than ready even to offer mentorship to our young children and one of the platform we will use is the Inuka program," she said.
Present during the handover was CEO (NCPWD) Harun Hassan who urged more companies to come on board and assist the council by offering more resources.
