Kenya Pipeline paid Sh30 million for installation, testing and commissioning of nothing, EACC says
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is probing Kenya Pipeline over irregular payment of Sh30 million for work not done.
Eacc Wednesday said Kenya Pipeline paid the Sh30 million to a company for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of auto-transformers procured from a French company.
The commission now says no work was done although the money was paid.
"The EACC established that a total sum of Kenya Shillings Thirty Million was paid to Redline Limited using fake documents whereas the items were never installed, tested or commissioned as per the contract agreement," said Eacc in a statement.
The commission intends to press charges against three former Kenya Pipeline staff over the graft allegations.
The three, Elias Maina Karumi, Josphat Kipkoech Sirma, and Charles Kiprotich Tanui are set to be arraigned on Thursday, July 16.
Eacc boss Twalib Mbarak said the three will be charged with Abuse of office, making false documents and failure to comply with procurement laws.
