Kenya records 688 new coronavirus cases
Coronavirus cases have yet again broken record after 688 more people tested positive.
Health Ministry Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Saturday in his tour of Embu County.
"Today, we have yet again recorded the highest number of cases after 688 tested positive," said the CS.
The CS had toured Embu in his routine county tours to assess the Covid-19 preparedness.
The 688 cases were confirmed from 4522 tests. On Friday, the Ministry confirmed 389 cases from a sample of 3545. Saturday's number was almost double of Friday's. Total cases now stand at 12720
Also, CS Kagwe announced a discharge of 457 patients, which brought total recoveries to 4440. Fatalities rose by three to 225.
Most of the patients who recovered were from home based care(401) and rest from hospitals(56).
Nairobi has 537 of the newest cases with Langata leading with 120.
At Embu, Kagwe commended the county for surpassing the minimum 300-isolation-bed capacity set by the President.
Embu has 360 beds for Coronavirus treatment at Embu Level 5 hospital.
