Kenya set to scrap Land Registry as records move to digital platform
The Land Registry at Ardhi House will cease to exist by December 2021, Ministry of Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney announced on Monday.
CS Karoney said Ardhi Sasa Digital platform has reduced title deed processing period from six months to 48 hours.
She said the system has so far recorded over 10,000 land transactions and has over 30,000 registered users.
The CS added that the new digital system was solely built by Kenyan tech elites.
"The system is so accurate that it has been able to detect irregular allocations of land in airport and forest lands.
"For instance at Wilson airport, there is a private developer that was allocated land 50 meters from the runway," she said.
She said only New Zealand has a system as robust as Ardhi Sasa globally and governments of Namibia, Ghana, Botswana, DRC, Nigeria and Egypt have sent their teams to understudy the system and replicate the same in their countries.
