Francis Kahata was part of a group of Kenyan footballers abroad whose standout performance was on display at the weekend.

Kahati capped his memorable first season Sunday as his Simba side collected their third trophy.

Kahata’s stellar performance has seen him nominated for the Most Valuable Player of the season in the Tanzanian Premier League.

He scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, helping Wekundu wa Msimbazi lift all the three main domestic competitions of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Michael Olunga netted his ninth goal of the season at the weekend in the Japanese top tier as his solitary goal helped Kashiwa Reysol downed Nagoya 1-0.

The on-form forward ensured his side moved to fourth on the log of the J1 League after eight rounds picking 15 points.

This was their fourth win on the trot after falling unceremoniously in the opening day of the campaign and are currently five points off league leaders Kawasaki Frontale.

Elsewhere in Canada, Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama was named  Montreal Impact  player of the MLS tournament by the club.

The former Celtic talisman now being handled by French legend Thierry Henry has most recently been deployed in a central defence position but has still shone.

Currently Montreal Impact is fifth on the MLS Eastern Conference log with seven points.

Closer home, Kenyan trio of Jesse Were, John Makwatta and Ian Otieno all featured for Zesco United as they beat Lusaka Dynamos 1-0 on Saturday in the MTN/FAZ Super Division.
