Kenya’s Catholic Bishops hail Moi as a firm believer in God
The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has paid tribute to the late former President, Daniel arap Moi as a leader committed to peace, love and unity and a firm believer in God.
KCCB Chairman Rev Philip Anyolo said on Friday that they remember the life of Moi as a person who believed in God and manifested with his actions.
The Catholic bishops described Moi as a living example of a God fearing man who frequented worship with other Kenyans with unfailing commitment.
“As we mourn with fellow Kenyans, we remember the life of a man who believed in God and manifested with actions. The late Mzee Moi prayed to God for guidance and always put God before all that he intended to do,” said Bishop Anyolo, in a statement.
The Bishop said Moi worked hard for the country from humble beginnings to take charge of the top leadership for many years.
“We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of the late Mzee Moi. We also condole with those who depended on his guidance, generosity and friendship. We pray that the plans for his final farewell find God’s favour and may he rest in eternal peace,” said Anyolo.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the nation in viewing and paying last respect for Mzee Moi on Saturday, then his body will lie-in-State in Parliament for three days.

A solemn procession is expected to take along Valley Road, Kenyatta Avenue through-to- Parliament Way, with a military guard of honour mounted on Parliament Road for the entry procession to Parliament.
To enable every Kenyan participate in the celebration of the life of Mzee Moi, the Government declared Tuesday a Public Holiday of general observance throughout the country.
The former President will be interred at his Kabarak Home on Wednesday.
