Kiambu leaders hail Uhuru for development projects in Juja
Kiambu leaders have acclaimed President Uhuru Kenyatta for promising to spearhead development activities in Juja Constituency after the death of MP Francis Munyua Waititu alias Wakapee.
Uhuru who after the burial ceremony on Tuesday evening addressed residents at Juja town promised to ensure that all projects started by Wakapee do not stall.
Among other things, the Head of State promised to oversee completion of the disgraceful Juja farm road which has for years been hurting movement thereby slowing economic growth of the stretch that connects various villages to Thika superhighway.
He said that his government will embark on boosting water connectivity to Juja residents once the ongoing construction of Sh 24 billion Karimenu II dam in Gatundu North is completed thereby ending years of water scarcity.
“I will personally complete the job that Wakapee started including Juja farm road. He stood with me and I must now take over and support Juja residents,” he said.
At the same time, the Head of State promised to establish a land registry in Juja to help resolve growing land issues among them non-issuance of title deeds by land buying companies and rampant grabbing of private and public utilities.
“I will not desert you because your MP stood with me. He was not a man of empty rhetoric like the small boys you see around selling their propaganda. I will be back very soon,” the president said.
The president’s sentiments were warmly welcomed by governor James Nyoro, Kiambu Jubilee Party caucus chairman Elijah Njoroge, businessman David Kariuki and a host of youths who hailed him for being development conscious during his tour.
The leaders who also thanked Juja residents for painting a non-political image during Wakapee’s burial said they would support his bid to transform the vast Sub County.
“The road that the president has promised to spearhead has already been started and the government will first do eight kilometers before we expand to Komo and Githima villages in Thika. The road will not only spur economic growth in Juja but will also reduce congestion along Garissa highway as those moving to Garissa will join it at Juja town,” said Nyoro.
On his part, Njoroge applauded the president for choosing to talk about developments instead of politics during the burial ceremony also attended by a host of other leaders.
