Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has officially taken over from his predecessor Karanja Kibicho.

Kibicho handed over the powerful State Department for Interior and National Administration to Omollo in a ceremony held at Harambee House, Nairobi, on Monday, December 5.

Omollo committed to working with all stakeholders in the Interior Ministry, under the stewardship of Kithure Kindiki, to achieve President William Ruto's agenda for the department.

During the handover, Prof. Julius Kibet Bitok also assumed office officially as Principal Secretary State Department for Citizen Services.

The two were among 51 PSs sworn in at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, December 2.

Notably, Omollo, 42, became the youngest person ever to hold the critical office that oversees the security of the entire nation.

In a previous interview, Omollo pledged to serve the country diligently.

"I am very happy, prepared and looking forward to serving Kenyans in the critical portfolio that touches on the security of everyone," he said.

Prior to his appointment, Omollo served as the Managing Director of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA),  which spearheads the socio-economic development of 18 counties in the Lake Victoria basin region.

An ardent supporter of President Ruto, Omollo was one of the few leaders from the Nyanza region who defied the Raila Odinga wave to support the Head of State's presidential bid in the last election.

He takes over from a man who strongly opposed Ruto's presidential bid.

Kibicho severally clashed with the then-deputy president on matters of security during the campaign period with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader accusing the powerful PS, who was close to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, of using the police to frustrate his State House ambitions.
