A family in Kilifi is calling for justice after their kin was allegedly hacked to death by assailants known to him following a protracted land dispute.

Kenga Kazungu Kombe was reportedly cornered by a group of youths who attacked him with crude weapons as he headed to his home in Bodoi village from the market in Kikambala on February 20.

The family says Kombe, 67, a driver had sub-divided his 10-acre land to his six sons, before differences emerged leading to his brutal murder.

The deceased, his sons and daughters yesterday stormed at the Mtwapa police station to know why the case has dragged on for long even after suspects have been identified and arrested.

“My father was killed in cold blood because of land conflict, those who killed him were arrested but some are already released, we are asking how did it happen, we want justice since my father was a renown driver who had no bad blood with anyone,” said Fadhili Kalu, one of the sons.

The family also questioned why a postmortem has not been done on their father’s body currently lying at the Kilifi sub-county hospital mortuary almost a month since the incident happened.

“Our father’s body is still at the mortuary, when we demand for a postmortem, the police engage us in a cat and mouse game, it is now almost one month, we wonder the kind of investigations they are doing if a postmortem report is not part of their report,” asked Victor Katana, a family member.
