Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa reduces his 4-months sabbatical leave from politics
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has reduced his four months sabbatical leave from politics by two months.
He now says the leave will only last for two months since he has completed the task that took him to leave.
Speaking in his constituency, Barasa says he used his two months leave to engage Luhya leaders in a bid to unite them ahead of the 2022 elections.
''For the two months that I have been on leave, I managed to reach a number of Luhya leaders and I am only remaining with a few whom I have not talked to," Barasa said.
The Jubilee MP now says he will announce the outcome of his deliberations with the Luhya elders next month.
''I will call for the press again on 15th next month to tell the Mulembe nation if their leaders are ready to come together and the route they should take ahead of 2022,'' Barasa said.
The MP on March 21 announced that he will take four months of sabbatical leave from politics to focus on consultations with Western leaders on the future of the Mulembe nation.
He said he would engage Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula, his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi and former UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, who have both announced to vie for Presidency, on the future of the region
"From today henceforth I am going for a four months sabbatical leave, it doesn't mean that I have left Tanga Tanga, during the off, I will engage various leaders in Luhyaland so that we speak in one voice," he said.
"We are divided in Luhyaland despite having the numbers, I want us to engage and unite so that we have one strong candidate from Luhyaland," he added.
