“Boga was born and raised in Msambweni, schooled in Msambweni, worked in Msambweni and he knows all the problems facing the constituents.

Kilifi governor Amason  Kingi is on the spot over his conspicuous absence in the Msambweni by-election campaigns which are fast shaping to a two-horse race pitting ODM’s Omari Boga and Independent candidate Feisal Abdalla Bader.

While Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kwale counterpart Salim Mvurya have literally camped in Msambweni to campaign for Boga and Bader respectively ahead of the December 15 by-election, Kingi has never set foot in the constituency since the official campaigns kicked off, albeit in strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.

The Msambweni seat fell vacant following the demise of immediate area MP Suleiman Dori on March 9 this year.

Mvurya while warning Msambweni constituents against allowing themselves to be influenced by party euphoria urged them to elect Bader, a relative of the late Dori, saying “will guarantee continuity of development track record.”

On the other hand, Joho who is leading the ODM brigade to support Boga has continued to urge the electorate not to gamble with their votes.

“Boga is a pro-handshake and pro-BBI candidate who will work closely with the government in the one and a half year that he will be in parliament to bring development to the poll area” he said.

In his campaign trail, Joho has repeatedly vowed to teach William Ruto, who has openly endorsed Bader, an unforgettable political lesson in Msambweni by ensuring his candidate is handed an embarrassing and irrevocable defeat.

Joho had earlier on promised to pitch camp in the area alongside his fellow governors Kingi, Dhadho Godhana of Tana River and Granton Samboja of Taita Taveta in a bid to ensure ODM secures a landslide victory come December, 15.

“Boga was born and raised in Msambweni, schooled in Msambweni, worked in Msambweni and he knows all the problems facing the constituents.

He is therefore the right person to represent you. We will be here and I am telling you Ruto will see dust he has never seen before,” said Joho in Msambweni.
