Kuppet says principal murdered, call for probe
Nyamira county KUPPET leadership has claimed the late Rangenyo Girls principal Lydia Onyoni was murdered.
Addressing journalists at Nyamira county headquarters yesterday, the KUPPET leadership led by the branch Executive Secretary Lewis Nyakweba also expressed their disappointment at the slow pace of investigations into the suspected murder.
According to the deceased’s family and KUPPET officials, the preliminary autopsy report which was conducted on Wednesday at the Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital revealed that the deceased had head and chest injuries.
“As union leaders, we are disturbed at the manner the security agents are treating this matter where we have lost our principal in circumstances which are questionable,” Nyakweba stated.
“To this moment, it is over 78 hours since the heinous murder happened. There is nothing that has happened and the police are just moving in and out of the school without any arrests.” Nyakweba added.
Onyoni who had served in the institution for over six years was found lying unconscious under the bed on Monday morning at her residence which is within the school compound. She was rushed to a hospital in Kisii town where she was pronounced dead.
