Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has come to the rescue of a Bungoma girl who scored 401 marks in last year's KCPE exam and failed to join secondary school due to lack of school fees.

Governor Twaha paid full year school fees of Ksh53, 000 for Daina Nyokabi who was on the verge of losing out a chance to join form one.

Nyokabi was a student at Bungoma DEB primary school.

Her family said she may have had to repeat Class Eight after she was excluded from County Scholarship Programme under unclear circumstances.

The pupil will now join Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret.

The girls mother Priscila Nyanchera thanked the governor for his generosity.

"I am a hawker in Bungoma town. I could not raise the Sh53,554 required as school fees," she said.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga also offered to help the young girl.

"I want to support this girl through her secondary education. Anyone kindly DM her contacts as soon as possible," she said.
