Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League debutants Kenya Police FC have broken the bank to sign some of the best local players as they seek to win the league title in their first attempt.

The law enforcers yesterday completed the signing of former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars skipper Musa Mohammed  who has been unattached since parting ways with Zambia giants Nkana FC,  a few months ago.

Mohammed who had a short stint with European side KF Tirana, spent seven years at Gor Mahia where he won three league titles. He also has 34 caps with the national team.

Police has also secured the services of bully winger Clifton Miheso who was outstanding for Gor last season, goal getter John Makwata from Zambia’s Zesco United and highly rated defensive midfielder Duncan Otieno from Lusaka Dynamos.

Miheso has had stints with Thika United, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka, Golden Arrows, of South Africa, Buildcon FC and Olimpico Montijo, while Makwata previously featured for Nairobi City Stars, Ulinzi, Buildcon FC and AFC Leopards and Otieno has had stints with Leopards, Posta Rangers and Nkana FC.

Transfer  window

“This is a stament that we are in this league to participate and not just to add numbers.

The window is still open and we expect more quality signings as the days go by,” said the club CEO Chris Oguso.

He added: “Harun Shakava will also join us next week after representing Gor in their preliminary CAF Confederation Cup matches.”

Police who lost their first league match 1-0 to Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium a fortnight ago, have a strong feeling that they can repeat Sofapaka’s feat of 2009 by winning the local title in their first attempt.
