The selection panel for the appointment of commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chaired by Elizabeth Muli has shortlisted 36 candidates.

Out of the 36, only 4 will be appointed for the IEBC Commissioners slots.

A total of 669 applications were received by the selection panel for the posts.

In the shortlisted list, both male and female have carried an equal number of 18 each.

“While considering the applications, the selection panel observed that there were many qualified Kenyans who expressed interest in the position in the position of commissioner of the IEBC,” the panel’s chairperson Elizabeth Muli said.

The 36 shortlisted will be interviewed from Wednesday, July 7 to Thursday, July 22, during working days only, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi.

Only three candidates will be interviewed in a single day.

Interviewees will undergo a psychometric test and oral interviews.

Psychometric tests, also known as aptitude test, is an umbrella term for any assessment that tests one's cognitive ability or personality.

The psychometric test will be done on June 30 at KICC at 11 am.

Both the test and the oral interview will be conducted in public.

Shortlisted applicants are required to carry with them their original national identity card or passport and the originals of their testimonials and/or certificates.

Candidates are required to seek clearance from Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and any of the Credit Reference Bureaus.

Members of the public have been invited to present, in writing, by memoranda, any information of interest with respect to the suitability of any of the shortlisted applicants by June 25.

“It is notified that the selection panel may interview any member of the public who submits a memorandum on any of the applicants,” Muli added.
