Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC) has claimed that Jubilee Party and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have hatched a plot to cripple multi-party democracy.

PPLC chairman Irungu Nyakera said the current political bickering and realignment is a wider scheme of the two perceived big parties to kill over 40 political parties in the country.

“We are aware of the political maneuverings geared towards eradication of multiparty democracy espoused in the Constitution.

The purported post election coalitions and merger is ill advised,” said Nyakera.

Kanu has signed a post-election agreement with Jubilee at a time of an increasingly public cold war between President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, Wiper under Kalonzo Musyoka has joined the fold.

Nyakera said the instability in Ford-Kenya, Amani National Congress and in Jubilee  was another move to cripple multiparty democracy.

There are also plans to dethrone Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula as the Party Leader of Ford Kenya, he said.

The PPLC claimed President Uhuru was the lead schemer of the move with the support of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga who they claim has forgotten his multiparty struggle he claims to fight for.

“Political parties have long been under attack and this started with skewed allocation of the political parties fund to benefit only two political parties,” he said.

Nyakera said Jubilee Party and ODM had since inception of the Fund shared approximately Sh10 billion at the expense of over 44 political parties.

“All efforts to expand the allocation of these monies to benefit all political parties in order to create a level playing field have consistently been thwarted, the latest being scrapping the proposal supporting political parties funding that had sailed through Second Reading in Parliament,” he added.

The Committee also faulted the appointment of the Registrar of Political Parties saying it was done when Jubilee started experiencing internal wrangles.

“This action is meant to either intimidate the current acting Registrar or to allow room for the appointment of a politically correct one who will play ball with the system to orchestrate their devious plan to finish political parties,” he said.
