The President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nelson Havi has fired a warning shot at advocates with questionable integrity who have been shortlisted for the positions of IEBC commissioners.

In statement he wrote on his social media handle, the LSK boss said he will expose advocates who have mismanaged funds at the lawyer's body and are now seeking to be IEBC officials.

Havi, who never mince his words, said they should withdraw hinting that they will not have an easy ride in their desire to become commissioners of the electoral body.

"660 Kenyans applied to fill the vacancies of 4 commissioners of IEBC. 36 have been shortlisted for interviews," Havi said

"The focus will be on the Advocates in the shortlist. If you have a dent, have stolen from members or mismanaged funds, withdraw. A memorandum is loading," he added.

The selection panel for the appointment of commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chaired by Elizabeth Muli shortlisted 36 candidates.

Out of the 36, only 4 will be appointed for the IEBC Commissioners slots.

A total of 669 applications were received by the selection panel for the posts.

In the shortlisted list, both male and female carried an equal number of 18 each.

The 36 shortlisted will be interviewed from Wednesday, July 7 to Thursday, July 22, during working days only, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi.
