Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has insisted that leaders from Western Kenya cannot win the presidency come 2022.
Oparanya said that the country is not looking for a leader for the luhya community but a leader who can govern the whole country.
He asked Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula of FORD Kenya to stop pretending that they are seeking presidency.
Oparanya said that the 2022 contest is not about a luhya president or leader but a national leader.
"We are not looking for a Luhya president but a leader who will head the whole country," said Governor Oparanya.
Speaking at Khwisero Sub County during public participation forum, he said he is capable of being Western region kingpin.
"If we want a Luhya president I can easily win it because I know where and how to get the votes," he said.
He noted that 2022 Presidential Elections is a two-horse race between Deputy President Dr William Ruto and ODM Leader Hon Raila Odinga.
"Even if you are my brother I will just tell I am not voting for my brothers but somebody who can lead this nation. We have a lot of graft and we need somebody who can streamline this country and revive the economy," he said.
