Shock and grief has hit Kambi Moto village in Ruiru, Kiambu County after the decomposing body of a middle-aged woman was found inside a rental house.

The woman is believed to have been strangled to death a week ago by his lover, 44-year-old Frankline Munyao (pictured).

Residents claimed the suspect had been living with the body for almost a week as he was frequently seen entering and leaving the house.

They said they only suspected that something was amiss when a bad smell started to come out of the room.

According to Ruiru Sub-county police Commander Phineas Ringera, the woman was strangled to death and the body wrapped it in a nylon paper.

Ringera who confirmed the arrest of Munyao, said the body had been moved to City Mortuary.

“The body has been moved to City Mortuary but we have the main suspect in our custody who will help us with investigations,” said the area police boss

“We suspect that the tenant killed the lady and we are treating it as a murder case whose investigations have commenced,” added Ringera.

Yesterday, Neighbours claimed the suspected was living with the body since he murdered the woman.

According to neighbours, the woman was an frequent visitor and was often seen hanging clothes outside the house. She was last seen entering the house on Sunday afternoon but was not seen leaving.

“While she was not the only woman visitor, we saw her entering the house on Sunday afternoon but we never saw her leave,” a neighbour told People Daily yesterday.

John Ngara, a neighbour, said they only suspected the murder when a foul smell emanated from the room.

Mary Kibathi urged young people to leave relationships that could end up taking their lives.

“We read or see such incidents on television but today we are witnessing them in our neighborhood.

It’s appalling that the suspect had been living with the body without displaying any signs of remorse or even being emotional,” said Kibathi.
