The family of Chief Justice nominee Matha Karambu Koome was filled with happiness and jubilation following the nomination of one of their own whom they have described as a true reformist of the then judiciary.

Her elder brother Mwenda Rutere  whom we caught up with at their home in Kithu ,Kiramurine village in North Imenti  expressed confidence that Martha will be the third and the first woman to take the office.

" I had this premonition that my sister, who has always been a Human Right crusader, will be the next CJ throughout this vetting interview.  I was just sure she will be appointed by the president ," said a happy Rutere.

Born in a family of 18 children from a humble background, his brother described Martha as a humble, loving and hard-working woman of integrity. He added that Kenya has gotten the right person to reform the Judiciary.

" The interview process was not easy but I am happy that they have chosen me basing on integrity and ability. I thank God that I have made it through and I am only waiting for the president’s appointment,” she said.
