The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted more rain across the country in its five-day forecast.

In its forecast for Saturday, May 4 to Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the weatherman said heavy showers are expected in parts of the country in the aforementioned period.

“Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. Heavy rainfall events are likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, North-western and North-eastern Kenya,” the Met Department said.

Adding; “Strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over the Coast and some parts of North-eastern Kenya.”

Kenya Airways

Passengers flying Kenya’s national carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) are expected to arrive at the airport three to four hours prior to their flight departure.

KQ in a statement on Friday said that ongoing rains in Nairobi have caused heavy traffic and thus advised its customers to arrive at least three to four hours before departure.

“Due to the ongoing heavy downpour being experienced in Nairobi that could lead to traffic snarl-up across many roads, customers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure and are encouraged to plan extra time to avoid potential delays en route to the airport.

“Passengers can physically check in at the airport as early as 4 hours before departure of their flight or online via www.kenya-airways.com or their mobile devices via the KO Mobile app from 48 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure,” KQ said.

The national carrier further warned its customers to expect delays in their departure and arrival times.

“While we are doing everything possible to ensure our flights depart and arrive on schedule, customers are advised to expect some delays in their departure and arrival times that could be impacted by weather conditions. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that the safety and wellbeing of our crew and customers is our number one priority,” KQ stated.
