MCAs split on plan to kick out Nyaribo
AMembers of Nyamira County Assembly are divided on the plan to impeach Governor Amos Nyaribo.
One week ago they were speaking in one voice but some MCAs have since changed the tune and are no opposed to the impeachment bid.
One group with 15 members led by the Deputy Speaker Thaddeaus Nyabaro, Deputy Leader of Majority Duke Masira and Deputy Minority Leader Miinda Riechi is determined to have the Governor impeached.
“If Nyamira County has to develop, corruption eradicated, nepotism and clanism discarded, Governor Nyaribo must be impeached,” Nyabaro, who is the MCA for Ekerenyo Ward, said.
“We have also serious scandals surrounding the procurement of drugs in health facilities, illegal recruitments and the embezzlement of funds meant for projects,” said Nyabaro.
The impeachment motion is scheduled to be tabled in the House tomorrow.
An eight-member group led by Bokeira MCA Joel Ombongi which has dismissed the impeachment plan which they say is being masterminded by Nyaribo’s detractors particularly those he defeated in the last General Election and those who have interest in the seat the 2027 election.
“The accusations against Governor Nyaribo of are just hearsay. Let them table evidence to justify their claims,” Ombongi told People Daily yesterday.
