Mediamax Network Limited chief executive officer Ken Ngaruiya has congratulated the company employees who recently won the 2021 Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA).

He encouraged the three — Evelyn Makena of People Daily, Onyango Omondi of Milele FM and Daniel Kaburu of K24 TV — to put even more effort in their work.

“I congratulate you for the achievement and I urge you to do even more,” said Ngaruiya.

Makena scooped the best position in the Gender Reporting category with her story The war on women: Why are many women being killed by their intimate partners?

Onyango won the best Health Reporting award in radio category for his story Balaa ya Usafi Vituoni.

Kaburu of K24 TV bagged the Environment Report Award.

In the Investigative Reporting category, Onyango scooped another award in the radio section with his story Siri ya Sare.

The awards by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) seek to celebrate excellence in journalism.
