Meso Land Buying Company members now risk eviction

Six hundred members of Meso Land Buying Company in Trans Nzoia county who defied court orders to move out of a 250-acre land risk being evicted next month following the expiry of a 60 day notice issued by the Lands and Environment Court.
The move comes after Luore Nyairo Company, associated with former Rangwe MP Philip Okundi successfully had all its prayers granted by Environment and Lands Court judge Charles Yano who struck out the land buying company’s appeal against eviction.
Assess situation
Trans Nzoia county commissioner Sam Ojwang said the situation on the ground had been assessed and confirmed receiving copies of the eviction orders which were also served on members of the land buying company.
He directed Kiminini sub-county security committee to make security arrangements for rectification of the boundaries to enable Okundi to fence off his land as directed by the court and asked residents to follow the law by ensuring court orders are followed.
County police commander Ayub Gitonga Ali said security arrangements would be made to help execute the orders.
Luore Nyairo Management through its manager Ralph Ololo said the company had defied the orders and resorted to appeals to buy time.
Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale Town Tuesday, Ololo said the company officials should seek compensation for the LR. NO. 7060/3 which they claimed to have purchased from the late Dr John Ouko after he deferred payment of the loan advanced to him by the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC).
Meso Multi Purpose Land buying company through its lawyer Moses Kaosa said they had appealed against the ruling by justice Yano, saying his clients would incur heavy losses if the orders were allowed.
