Four government ministries and departments have no title deeds for land that they own, a report has revealed. In a summary report for the National Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for the 2020-2021 financial year, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu says she is not able to ascertain that the properties belonged to the institutions.

The institutions include the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Energy, State Department for Social Protection and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“In the absence of the title documents, it has not been possible to ascertain that the properties and improvements thereon belonged to the Ministries, Departments and Agencies,” said Gathungu.

According to the report, the Ministry of Health does not have a title deed for the parcel of land measuring 34.3 hectares that the Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital sits.

The hospital’s management has claimed there is a plot to grab it following suspicious activities at the land located along Thika Road.
