Ministry announces 2020 term dates for schools, colleges

The Ministry of Education has issued 2020 term dates for primary and secondary schools and colleges.

For primary schools, Term One is expected to run for 14 weeks from January 6 to April 10, 2020, while the half term is scheduled for February 17 to 21.

The second Term will run from May 4 to August 7, with half term set for June 15 to 19.

Consequently, the Third Term will commence on August 31 and run-up to October 30 while the examination period is set for November 2 to 5.

Total number of weeks to be covered in primary schools is 38.

Secondary schools have similar term dates save for the examination period, which is to run from November 6  to 30, bringing the total number of weeks to 41.

The term dates were contained in a circular issued by Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.

“All field officers are asked to ensure strict adherence to these dates by schools and colleges,” directed Kipsang.

For Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), Term One dates begin on January 7 to April 12 while Second Term will run from May 4 to August 2020.

Third Term is scheduled to commence on September 1 to November 12.
