Motion to impeach Ruto is sti*l on, ANC insists

Lugari MP Ayub Savula has insisted that the motion to impeach Deputy President William Ruto is still on.
Savula said that 126 MPs allied to Jubilee had already appended their signatures on the motion by last week.
He said he was also mobilising another 107 legislators affiliated to parties that formed Nasa who would be signing before Parliament resumes.
“I have heard our critics saying we cannot manage to impeach Ruto just because my party, ANC, does not have enough members.
That is laughable because they do not understand the number of MPs from across the political divide who are supporting this motion,” he said.
Speaking in Kakamega on his way to Kabarak for the first anniversary memorial ceremony of former President Daniel arap Moi, Savula said he was confident that he would raise more than 233 MPs that will vote to remove Ruto as DP.
He said the motion was meant to bring sanity in the Jubilee administration as “the DP has openly been sabotaging his boss, the President and Party Leader.”
“Kenyans voted for both Uhuru and Ruto expecting them to deliver on the promises they made during campaigns.
But while the President is busy working hard to implement what they promised, his deputy is frustrating and openly opposing him. Is this the way a government operates,?” he posed.
The legislator dared Ruto to resign of his own volition if he was convinced that he enjoyed support to succeed Uhuru in next year’s polls.
He said it was unfair for Ruto to insubordinate his boss and expect matters to work smoothly in the event that he is elected President in 2022.
“Uhuru is busy working on his legacy while his DP is frustrating him and backpedalling any gains that the President is making. He is using threats and behaving like he is in the Opposition,” said Savula.
“The most Honourable thing that he can do is to resign from the government and take on the President while in the Opposition,” he added.
The MP urged Kenyans to back ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s bid for the Presidency in 2022 saying he was most suitable to succeed Uhuru and ensure the country remained stable, united and peaceful as catalysts for growth of the economy.
