Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno.

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno was on Monday evening arrested at Dikirr in Transmara moments after he was captured in a video that went viral in social media lashing out at President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ng’eno in the video accused Uhuru of allegedly undermining his Deputy William Ruto.

A contingent of police officers from Dikirr Police Station including GSU officers from a nearby camp stormed his Mogondo residence at around 4pm and surrounded his home.

Word, however, spread fast over the impending arrest where hundreds of his supporters marshaled themselves and trooped to the home where they attempted to stop the officers from arresting him.

At one point, the officers had to shoot in the air to try and disperse the group of residents, which continued building up.

After some minutes the legislator emerged from his house and surrendered to officers who were camping outside.

By the time of going to press, officers in the company of the supporters were escorting Ngeno to the station.

It was unclear as to why he had been arrested but those who spoke to People Daily said he was to be questioned over the alleged incitement as captured in the five-minute clip.

The outspoken legislator had on Sunday while attending a function at Murkan in Transmara told President Kenyatta to be prepared to leave office in 2022 once his term ends and that he should not dictate as to who should succeed him but instead leave it to Kenyans to decide for themselves.

This is the third time Ng’eno is being arrested.

In the first case on September 3, 2019, the Ngeno was arrested alongside Ololulunga MCA Jafferson Langat and his Ilmotiok counterpart Samuel Kositany at Olmekenyu Centre in Narok South on their way to Mau Forest following the evictions, which happened in the area.

The second incident was in February, where he was arrested with some MCAs at Kimogoro Trading centre in Narok South over claims of holding an illegal BBI meeting.

Area police boss was not immediately available for a comment on why the legislator had been arrested.
