Mudavadi in Denmark for 21st Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers Meeting

Foreign Affairs and Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya Musalia Mudavadi is currently in Denmark to participate in the 21st Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers meeting.

Scheduled for May 2 and 3, the gathering will convene foreign ministers from across Africa and the Nordic Region in the vibrant city of Copenhagen.

The primary agenda of this high-level diplomatic assembly is to foster dialogue and collaboration between the two regions across a spectrum of socioeconomic domains.

Key topics on the agenda include advancing cooperation in the realms of green transition, digitalization, trade and investments, global governance, reform of international financial structures, and labour mobility, among others.

"The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Office KE Musalia Mudavadi
arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark yesterday evening to participate in the 21st Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers meeting from 2nd to 3rd May 2024," the State Department for Foreign Affairs announced.

"The meeting brings together Foreign Ministers from the Nordic Region and Africa to foster dialogue and cooperation between the two regions in various social economic spheres. This includes growing cooperation with the Nordic region in areas such as green transition, digitalization, trade and Investments, global governance and reform of the international financial architecture, labour mobility among others," the statement added.

More than 15 African foreign ministers and all Nordic foreign ministers are expected to participate. Representatives from the Danish business sector, including the Confederation of Danish Industry, Danish Chamber of Commerce, Danish Agriculture & Food Council, Danish Shipping, and SMV Denmark, as well as numerous Danish companies, will be in attendance.

The agenda for the event also includes welcoming remarks by the CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and the Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen. This will be followed by high-level sessions focusing on cooperation and trade, green transition and digitalization, and food value chains.

Meetings schedule

Later, at Eigtveds Pakhus, CEO Brian Mikkelsen of the Danish Chamber of Commerce will deliver a welcome speech.

Perspectives on strengthening business between Africa and the Nordics will be presented, followed by a company case from Ana Hajduka, Founder & CEO of African Greenco Group.

Discussions will also cover topics such as green transition risk financing for SMEs, supporting African growth, and the event will conclude with closing remarks and the start of the World Café session, facilitating discussions and networking opportunities.
