Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has reiterated the need for the government to ban all forms of public and political gatherings in totality.

Mudavadi yesterday said he political gatherings  are exposing vulnerable Kenyans to the risk of contracting Coronavirus.

His remarks come in the wake of steady increase of the number of infections, which has now surpassed the 14,000 mark.

Musalia raised concerns over the increased number of political leaders and civil servants including Cabinet Secretaries, who have continually engaged in heightened political activities with total disregard of rules and regulations set by the ministry of Health.

“Public and political gatherings might expose thousands if not millions of Kenyans to the deadly virus.

We need to take serious precautions to protect ourselves and our loved,” Mudavadi said.

He made specific reference to Western Kenya region where political gatherings have been happening, which expose many lives to the deadly disease.

Mudavadi regretted that health protocols have been ignored by a majority of the leaders who have continuously held meetings in that region.

This week alone, three CSs Peter Munya (Agriculture), James Macharia (Transport) and Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and a number of host governors have been to the region to commissioning development projects and convened public meetings and failed to  conform to protocols of social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitising and limited number of people who can gather for a meeting.
