Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, former Azimio La Umoja running mate Martha Karua were among the leaders who graced Catherine Kasavuli's burial in Vihiga.

The leaders gathered at Nyang'ori High School for the funeral service.

"The Prime Cabinet Secretary, @MusaliaMudavadi and I today joined other leaders, the family,relatives and friends of our departed sister the veteran broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli to pay our last respect at Nyangori Boys High School, Vihiga county where her remains will be interred today. May our living God give mama Rachael Kasavuli strength for the great loss of her beloved daughter. One day cancer will also die! RIP Catherine," Wetangula tweeted.

"Together with National Assembly Speaker @HonWetangula, Hon @MarthaKarua and other leaders, we mourned with the family, friends and relatives of Veteran Journalist, a national asset and heroine, the Late Catherine Kasavuli at their Tigoi home in Vihiga Constituency, Vihiga County," Mudavadi tweeted.

Mudavadi and Wetangula however left the funeral service after addressing the function and proceeded to Asembo, Siaya county to attend a thanksgiving ceremony of ICT CS Eliud Owalo.

Other leaders who attended the funeral service include; Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, Roots party leader George Wajakoyah, Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, Vihiga deputy governor Wilberforce Kitiezo, Hamisi MP Charles Gimose, Sabatia Mp Clement Sloya, Makadara MP George Aladwa, Sirisia MP John Walukhe among others.

Kasavuli's remains was transported to Vihiga county after a requiem mass which was held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Friends International Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

The veteran journalist will be buried at her home in Zululu, Vihiga County after the funeral service at Nyang'ori High School.

Kasavuli passed away on December 29, 2022, aged 60 at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after battling cervical cancer.

She was admitted in hospital since October 26, 2022.
