Mudavadi, Wetangula laud MPs for passing BBI bill
ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula have praised MPs for passing the BBI Bill.
Speaking during the burial of Central Provincial Commissioner John Etemesi in Trans Nzoia County, the two thanked the MPs for doing their part and promised to stage a popularisation campaign at an opportune time.
"The MPs have shown direction. The Senate should follow suit," Mudavadi said.
"BBI has consumed most of our time and this debate had to be concluded at the end of the year to give space to other pressing issues to be addressed," he added.
Wetangula expressed optimism that the Senate-Assembly will also vote for the bill.
He said the bill presents a bag of goodies for Kenyans and that they will therefore make sure it sails through.
"There will be no more queuing in Nairobi for resources to the counties. Our counties will have enough funds to spur development and fight poverty," Wetangula said.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, present at the funeral, took a swipe at MPs who voted NO for the bill saying they are enemies of development.
"It is a dream of creating a more inclusive, equitable and prosperous Kenya. Those opposed to the bill are enemies of the country," the CS said.
The CS commended local MPs Dr Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Joshua Kuttuny (Cherangany), Caleb Amisi (Saboti) and Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza) for supporting the bill.
Amisi argued that BBI is unstoppable adding that it will ensure the common citizens get their rightful share of the national cake.
