Murang’a hotels reap big from Mashujaa Day bookings

Most hotels in Murang'a town and those situated along the Murang'a- Sagana highway have recorded a high number of occupancy this week due to the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

A spot check done by People Daily Digital, revealed that most hotels and apartments in the area were fully booked ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

At Nokras Riverine and Nokras Murang'a town, which are in the outskirts of Murang'a town were almost fully booked and the manager told People Daily Digital that they were still receiving other visitors.

According to John Karanja, Nokras hotel manager, people have been flocking the hotels since Monday this week and are enjoying the services offered.

"We have witnessed a large number of occupancy just like the one we usually handle during the December festivities," Karanja said.

When People Daily Digital got to Sagana town, most hotels had already been fully booked with the proprietors thanking the government for taking national celebrations to the counties

Joseph Mathai, a proprietor at Maya gardens said that by the celebration being taken to the counties, it's a chance for the county's economy to grow.

"By the celebrations coming to Kirinyaga County, atleast we've felt the warmth of the government.

"I also urge the next regime to ensure they continue with the same so as have the presence of the government felt even in the grassroots level," Mathai added.

Edwin Muhunyu the manager at Havila Resort said that the visitors have been enjoying other activities in the county saying that most people should embrace visiting the hotels around for a unique experience.

"Those around have enjoyed fishing activities where we cook the fish they catch and also some are enjoying swimming in the river Tana and also archery," Muhunyu said.
