Mutua, Sonko ranked among worst performing governors in new survey
Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko have been ranked among the worst performing county bosses at fifth and third last respectively in the latest survey.
The survey, conducted by Consortium of Researchers on Governance, shows the worst performing governors are Mohamed Abdi (Wajir), Fahim Twaha (Lamu) and Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), scoring 2.34,10.12 and 13.47 percent, respectively.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is the best performing county boss according to the survey released yesterday.
The survey comes a week after another one on governance conducted by All African Advisors received wide condemnation for alleged unreliability and flouting standards of statistical research.
In the new study dubbed County Revenue and Accountability Survey, Oparanya (above) tops with a weighted average of 87.23 per cent followed by his Laikipia counterpart Ndiritu Muriithi at 84.12 percent.
Tharaka Nithi’s Muthomi Njuki was ranked the third best performer with 78.54 per cent, while Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana ranked fourth.
Ironically, Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, who was ranked first in the much contested All African Advisors poll comes fifth last. His Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko ranked third in the first poll came 44th out of 47 governors.
The survey considered own source revenue growth for the counties and their score in the County Accountability Index.
