Mwendwa objects to ‘faulty’ charge sheet
Embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) boss Nick Mwendwa will this afternoon know whether he will face corruption charges over alleged loss of Sh38 million at the federation.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Eunice Nyutu is expected to rule on whether a charge sheet filed in court yesterday by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was faulty or not.
This was after Mwendwa (right), through his lawyers led by Eric Mutua and Mutula Kilonzo Jr, made an application objecting to the soccer boss pleading to the corruption charges on grounds that the charge sheet was faulty.
While making the application, the lawyers termed the charges as framed up and illegal since they emanate from a preliminary report made by the Registrar of sports.
“We object to have the charges leveled against Mwendwa since the sport regulations state that FKF and Mwendwa ought to have been given an opportunity by the Registrar of Sport to make comments on the report that formed the charges filed in court before a criminal prosecution is opened against him,” Mutula said.
