A widow yesterday narrated to court how she received information on her husband’s death after he had successfully negotiated a promotion deal for nurses working for Kisumu County.

Brossy Makimtigwa Ongeri could not hold back tears as she narrated to the Eldoret High court how the news of the killing of her husband, Ferdinand Ongeri at the age 40, hit her.

Ongeri, a Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) official in Kisumu was reported missing at his workstation on July 24, 2019.

His decomposed body was found days later by a herdsman in Kimondi forest in Nandi County.

According to the widow, the deceased was found naked, his throat slit, the neck broken, and there were bruises all over the body, a clear evidence that he had been tortured.

Makimtigwa, who is a nurse by profession, was testifying before Judge Reuben Nyakundi in a case in which Mawanda Asma, a Ugandan, has denied killing the nurse.

The charge sheet states that on an unknown date between  July 24 and 27, 2019 at Kimondi Forest in Nandi County, jointly with others not before the court, he murdered Ongeri.
