Nairobi lawyer hospitalised after being stabbed by girlfriend
A Nairobi lawyer is admitted in a city hospital after he was stabbed by his girlfriend in Umoja, yesterday morning over a text.
David Ochieng, 33, was stabbed three times by his girlfriend, Linda Okumu, who had stumbled on a message apparently sent by another woman seeking financial assistance from the lawyer.
Ms Okumu confronted Ochieng after reading the text and as a result, a fight ensued, leading to the stabbing.
Buru Buru Sub-County police boss Adamson Bungei said the victim was stabbed on the collarbone, abdomen and at the back.
“Ochieng was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital but his condition deteriorated prompting his transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital,” Bungei said.
Okumu 24, a student at Eldoret University was arrested and a blood stained knife believed to have been used to stab the victim recovered.
Bungei yesterday said though the victim had deep and serious stab wounds, he was in a stable condition.
The suspect is detained at Buruburu Police Station and is expected to be arraigned once investigations are complete.
The brutal attack happens barely a month after another lawyer, Makueni-based Onesmus Masaku, was attacked by her former lover, Constable Nancy Njeri, who cut both his hands with a machette.
Masaku succumbed to the injuries and the female officer is facing a murder charge.
Police in Buruburu are also investigating a case in which a police officer’s co-wife died in unclear circumstances on Saturday.
The husband, Victor Maranga, said his wife, Nancy Kerubo, had gone to KNH to visit a sick child and came back very late.
She warmed food, which had been prepared by her co-wife, Caren Kamwara, an officer attached to Villa Police Post in Embakasi.
An hour later, she started complaining of stomach ache and vomiting. She died in the house before being taken to the hospital.
“Police found the body lying on the floor. The food remains and clothes she vomited on kept have been kept as exhibits and samples taken to the Government Chemist,” Bungei said.
