Residents of Noriega Enkare area in Narok East sub-county have decried poor state of roads, which they claim is hindering them from transporting their farm produce to the market.

They said despite the area being a rich agricultural zone, farmers do not get value for their crops because of the impassable roads.

Led by a prominent farmer and businessman Jeff Mathai, the residents said they suffer in the hands of middlemen who buy their produce at throw away prices, only to sell them at double the price.

Mathai called on the county government to prioritise tarmacking of the 42km road from Nairegia Enkare junction to Wa-four area, which they say is completely impassable during rainy seasons.

The area, he said, is rich in potato, maize, carrots, beans, vegetables, wheat and barley production which rot in the farms during rainy seasons.
