The Kenya National Examination Council has said the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education would go on as earlier scheduled.

In a statement yesterday, Knec chief executive Dr David Njengere clarified that the March – April dates for the KCPE and KCSE exams are still unchanged.

“Knec’s attention has been drawn to information circulating in social media on postponement of KCPE and KCSE national examinations. It is in this regard that we wish to inform all the relevant stakeholders that there are no changes on the dates,” said Njengere.

Reports circulating on social media had indicated there were slight adjustments on KCSE timetable owing to school unrests, which have led to loss of class time.

Some 1,225,698 candidates registered to sit their 2021 KCPE, which was an increase of 34,085 compared to 2020.

For 2021 KCPE, there was a 10.42 per cent increase compared to last year.
Some 832,026 candidates will sit their KCPE compared to 752,602 last year. On Tuesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha affirmed that national examinations for Standard Eight and Form Four candidates to be taken in March are ready.

The CS also said both the KCPE and KCSE exams due in December next year are almost ready and will continue as planned.
He urged candidates to stop complaining, saying that exams have been set with a human face and they can all handle the papers.
