BBI’s Martin Kimani, two ex-IEBC commissioners get new jobs

Two former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioners Consolata Nkatha and Margaret Mwachanya have been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Deputy Heads of Mission to Rome, Italy and Islamabad, Pakistan respectively.

In a statement on Thursday, the President also appointed Building Bridges Initiative secretary Ambassador Martin Kimani as new permanent representative to the United Nations.

Nkatha and Mwachanya controversially resigned from IEBC in April 2018 after falling out with the commission's chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Others who landed high commission positions are: Amb John Tipis (Canberra), Immaculate Wambua (Ottawa) and Amb Catherine Mwangi (Pretoria). 

Amb Jean Kamau has been nominated as the ambassador to Addis Ababa, Linday Kiptiness (Bangkok), Amb Tom Amolo (Berlin), Lemarron Kaanto (Brasilia), Amb Daniel Wambura (Bujumbura) and Stella Munyi (Harare), Maj Gen Samuel Nandwa (Juba), Maj Gen Ngewa Mukala (Khartoum), Amb Benson Ogutu (Moscow), Joshua Gatimu (Tehran), Amb Tabu Irina (Tokyo) and Amb Jean Kimani (UN Habitat).
