Cop arrested for killing gym instructor in alleged love triangle
A Mombasa-based General Service Unit officer drawn from the special force, Recce Company, has been arrested for allegedly murdering a gym instructor.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers from Kisauni sub-county trailed the suspect, Kirimi Gikangu, to his hideout at Kaeleo area in Meru County.
Police reports say the suspect is believed to have murdered Allan Gicharu at Mondana area in Kisauni sub-county on February 2, following a love affair between the instructor and the officer’s wife.
Gikangu, who is currently attached in Boni Forest, had gone into hiding following the murder, alongside his wife, who is yet to be arrested.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect had invited the deceased into his house where they began partying.
“The suspect invited the deceased to his house where they drunk beer and after a few hours, the deceased was too drunk to leave the house. The suspect asked him to sleep on the couch, and as he slept, he hit him with a metal rod and later stabbed him several times leaving him to bleed to death,” the report.
Reports further indicate that the suspect is being ferried to Mombasa from Meru to face murder charges today.
